WHY HAS GOD GIVEN US ARMOUR?

  • September 17, 2023

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.  Ephesians 6:13 (MSG)

Many believers sit around letting life simply happen or passively trusting God to do everything. They mistakenly think that trusting God means they don’t have to fight for anything. It’s like the person who told me they had lost their job but were confident God would send a cheque to their mailbox.

God certainly cares about your circumstances and can coordinate supernatural finances to flow. However, Deuteronomy 28:8 says the Lord blesses whatever you set your hand to. But if you’re not undertaking anything, ten times nothing is still nothing!

It takes determination to get up and fulfill the destiny God has prepared for you. Along the way, there will be battles to wage as you push through negative feelings, difficult relationships or health-related issues. That’s why it’s inaccurate to believe that whatever happens, good or bad, is God’s will.

If that were the case, why are there Bible verses that instruct us to put on God’s armour? Why would God provide believers with the means to protect themselves from attacks if everything that happens is His will? He has given us armour because there are fights we must undertake to experience success in our lives.

Good news: you can win battles when you’re prepared for them. Even on the most challenging days, put on God’s armour, and let it empower you to press on toward all that He has called you.
