TRAINING YOUR HEART (PART 1)

  • January 24, 2023

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” Matthew 21:21 (NLT)

As believers, you and I have an unfair advantage over the rest of the world. What is it? It’s the ability to exercise the power of God.

In Matthew 21, Jesus came across a fig tree that had no figs to offer. He cursed it to never bear fruit again—and the tree withered up. The disciples were shocked, but Jesus told them if they had faith, they could do even more than that. They could speak to a mountain and see it move!

First John 4:17 (NKJV) is another stunning verse that reveals “as He is, so are we in this world.”

So if you and I hold this incredible ability to walk in the miraculous and command the natural realm to line up with God’s Word, why don’t we see it working in our lives 24/7?

It’s because our hearts need to be trained. Just like an Olympic athlete undergoes rigorous training to be able to run, jump or throw with incredible strength, we have to get serious about our spiritual training.

Now, I’m not saying you have to work up the power on your own. That’s impossible. I’m simply encouraging you to prioritize your heart. Get into God’s Word and begin building your faith muscles. Condition your heart for success!

Tomorrow we’re going to look at specific actions to practice daily, but for today, decide to train your heart in the Word—and realize the stunning ability Jesus has given you!
