# THE FOUNDATION OF FATHERHOOD

With Father’s Day coming up, I want to dedicate some time to talking to the men. 

I’ve found that almost every father wants the same things: a sense of purpose; a warm and lively sex life with his wife; and a job with meaning, not just good pay. He wants to secure a great future for his kids. He wants to be able to let loose and have fun with his family—and still know that his wife and children are proud of him.  

The problem is **most men haven’t had anyone to model real manhood to them.** There hasn’t been a real fathering of the fathers, and going by the stats, the results are sobering. 

Studies show that men today live 6-10 years less than women do. Of the 40% of marriages that break down, four out of five divorces are initiated by the woman. Over 90% of acts of violence are carried out by men, and men make up the vast majority of the homeless and the incarcerated. It appears that simply being male is a huge risk factor, and I have to wonder how much can be attributed to a lack of fatherhood. 

But I'm not here to make you depressed. **Even if your father fell short or was absent from your life, your Father God wants to make up the difference. **You can allow Him to heal your broken heart and build His strength into you. 

Over the next little while, we’re going talk about how **being a good father starts with being a good man.** You can be the one who rises up and breaks the cycle!
