SET YOUR MIND!

  • June 30, 2023

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 (NKJV)

Why do Christians live according to their fleshly, selfish desires, even though they’ve been made new in Christ? According to today’s verse, it’s because they set their minds on the flesh. But the good news is we can live according to the Spirit by setting our minds on the things of the Spirit!

What does this mean in the context of everyday life? Well, in every situation you can choose your focus. No matter what you’re facing, you can choose to set your mind on God’s Word, His promises, His presence, and His priorities.

Like King David, you can focus on God’s goodness: “I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.” (Psalm 59:16, NLT). You can also love others and be a blessing. You can find a way to serve wherever you are.

The truth is life is the most fun when you’re serving others. Keep your life in balance. Don’t let others take advantage of you but keep your focus off of yourself and onto others. That’s how you discover your destiny and live a fulfilling life! Don’t let the cares of this world weigh you down or get you so busy that you can’t be a blessing to others. Set your mind on God’s Word and on the things of the Spirit and you’ll live according to who you truly are—a new creation in Christ!
