HE SAID IT—I SHOULD SAY IT!

  • May 13, 2023

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5–6 (NKJV)

Speaking God’s Word is powerful. In fact, Hebrews 4:14-16 (NKJV) encourages us to “hold fast our confession” and “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

This Scripture is often misunderstood. So, let’s break it down.

First of all, what is the throne of grace? It’s speaking about what Jesus won for us on the cross. He received the punishment we deserved, cleared our record and qualified us for every blessing. So, when we pray the Word and speak the promises of God, we’re declaring what Jesus has already secured for us.

When it talks about mercy, that means you didn’t earn these blessings on your own; it’s a gift. And grace means God’s ability is yours as a favour.

Now, when it comes to confessing the Word, today’s verse has two key phrases I want you to notice: “He said” and “we say.” All throughout the Word, God has said powerful things about you. What He has said, you should say. He declared it, so you can declare it!

I encourage you to look for these declarations every time you read the Word. Find God’s promises to you and the words He uses to describe you. Begin to declare that you are loved, chosen and redeemed. Declare that you are healthy and whole, directed by God and strengthened by His Spirit in you.

Speak the Word over yourself, your future and your family. Tap into the gift of mercy and grace God has poured into your life!
