GOD’S PROMISE OF HEALTH

  • May 15, 2023

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 (NLT)

Since yesterday was Mother’s Day, we’re starting a week-long series about seven powerful prayers of a mother. It may surprise you, but these prayers aren’t primarily about your kids. They’re about you.

On a plane, if the cabin loses air pressure, you’re instructed to put on your oxygen mask first—even if you have a child sitting next to you. Why is that? Because you’re of no use to anyone if you pass out or die from lack of oxygen. But if you take care of yourself, then you’ll have the strength to make wise decisions and help others.

That’s why this series of prayers will focus on promises that moms can declare over themselves. When you stay topped up on the strength that comes from God, you’ll have something within you to give to your family.

Here’s the first declaration: “I live my life with health, strength and joy because of what God has given me in Jesus.”

Today’s verse says you have been given not just some of what you need, but everything needed for this life. That includes physical, mental and emotional health. It includes strength and energy even when you’ve just stayed up all night with your fussy baby. It includes joy even when the kids misbehave, because the joy of the Lord is His gift to you!

None of these gifts can be taken away when you fail or fall short. They are yours because of Jesus. Freely accept His grace and declare these promises over yourself today!
